Festival of Sao Joaninas (St John the Baptist), celebrated for over a week on Terceira, started offf with a BANG!, literally on the hillside of Monte Brasil (startling the birds for sure). There were crowds for the parade, all manner of performing musicians, and naturally food and drink galore. And by the way, who else carpets their street for a parade!!! The party continued into the night.
