Children’s Objectives

1.   Offer simple thank you prayers and petitions

2.   Recognize the Bible as the book to learn about God and Jesus

3.   Listen to and talk about Bible stories

4.   Participate in Sunday Worship services

5.   Participate in service to others at home, Church and community

6.   Memorize simple Bible verses

Parents’ Guidelines

1.   Make the love of God part of daily conversations with child

For example:  Ask your child each day to name God’s blessings

2.   Model peaceful ways to resolve conflict

For example:

·     Allow time for reflection before reacting to your child’s inappropriate behavior

·     Emphasize forgiveness and expectations for future behavior

3.   Ensure that child is comfortable by providing for bathroom visit and food

4.   Instruct child in Worship postures (sit, stand, kneel) and procedures (placing offering, going to receive Holy Communion/blessing)and significance of quietness

5.   Model good stewardship, including child’s offering

For example:

·     Make a provision for child’s personal offerings by preparing envelope or setting aside gift on Saturday night

·     Daily instruct child concerning sharing – include food, toys, gifts to those in need
