Children’s Objectives

1.   Memorize prayers for various purposes, such as morning, meals, bedtime

2.   Recognize that God knows and sees all

3.   Recite Bible verses

4.   Locate Bibles verses with help and follow Bible readings

5.   Express thoughts about the Bible in prayer and activities

6.   Practice the Invocation, Kyrie, and Hymns of Praise

7.   Understand structure of Bible as Old and New Testament

8.   Recognize colors of the Church seasons

Parents’ Guidelines

1.   Point out changes in parament colors or Worship patterns

·     Emphasize colors and seasonal decorations and changes in Holy Communion settings

2.   Encourage child to lead prayers at home

·     Allow child to pray memorized and impromptu prayers as part of daily family devotions

·     Inquire daily concerning what the child is thankful for and what prayer concerns he/she has

3.   Encourage child to locate Bible passages during family devotional time

·     Expect child to utilize Bible and locate passages with help

4.   Initiate and plan child’s involvement in service projects in the community or Church.

·     Ask your pastor how your family can contribute to service projects
