Children’s Objectives

1.   Express and share prayer concerns with one another

2.   Memorize selected Bible verses

3.   Say the Apostle’s Creed

4.   Recognize Martin Luther as a leader of The Reformation

5.   Recognize Holy Communion as the gift of Jesus body and blood

6.   Recognize sin as being against God’s will

7.   Recognize Jesus’ saving act on the Cross

8.   Prize his/her own copy of the Bible as a personal possession

9.   Demonstrate general knowledge of the order of the books of the Bible

Parents’ Guidelines

1.   Ensure that child has his/her own Bible and encourage daily reading from it

·     Encourage child to read from his/her own Bible during family devotions

2.   Review Apostle’s Creed as memory work

·     Recite the Apostles’ Creed as a part of morning/evening family devotions

3.   Point out infractions of rules as “sin”

·     When inappropriate behavior occurs, discuss infraction as against God’s will, as well as family rules

4.   Develop pattern for identifying prayer concerns and items for giving thanks

·     Daily ask for thanksgiving and intercessions

5.   Expect child to follow liturgy, Bible readings, and singing in Worship

·     Actively assist child throughout entire Worship service.
