·Celebrate Independence Day with a picnic, games, fireworks, or some way that is meaningful to your family.

·Reflect on John 8:31-38.

               What does it mean to be a slave to sin?  What kinds of sin can we be a slave to?

               Where else does Jesus talk about “truth” (especially in John)?  What do you think he means by “truth”?

               How do you think the truth sets us free?

               What does it mean to be free?

               How is this the same or different than what we mean by living in a “free” country?   How is our freedom in Christ the same as or different than our freedom as Americans?

·   Slow down as a family this summer – take time to go to the park, to go swimming together, to “play” with water – under a sprinkler, with water balloons, to blow bubbles, to lay on the grass and watch the clouds or count the stars.
